Transition and Climate Justice
Climate Justice recognizes that our lifestyle in the northern industrialized countries has contributed heavily to global warming, while those around the world who have contributed least to global warming and climate change are the most and first to be impacted by the consequences of it all.
In accordance with the UN Framework on Climate Change, wealthier nations/people have a responsibility not only to reduce carbon emissions but to pay towards mitigating effects on poorer nations/people.
How do we build solidarity with those indigenous and grassroots groups around the world that are working to reclaim the power to protect their environments from further degradation and to participate in decisions that affect their lives?
And here at home poverty and inequality must be addressed to ensure a Just Transition towards a post-fossil fuel future.
